Canterbury Live is an independent news and information site for people who live in the Canterbury district. It has no connection to the city council or to any other body it reports on.

The district we cover

The city and its edges at Wincheap, Thanington, Harbledown and Rough Common; Whitstable with Tankerton, Seasalter, Chestfield and Swalecliffe; Herne Bay with Herne, Beltinge, Greenhill and Reculver; and the villages inland, Sturry, Hersden, Fordwich, Westbere, Broad Oak, Blean, Chartham and Littlebourne. Three quite different sorts of place, one council, and one news feed that tries to serve all of them. The local information pages run alongside it.

Sources, always named

We do not do anonymous claims. What we publish comes from Canterbury City Council’s papers and planning register, police.uk crime data, Food Standards Agency inspections, The Gazette and official alerts on weather, flooding and roadworks, and each fact is linked to the record behind it. Where the record does not settle a question, we say so and leave it open.

Tips and corrections

The best stories usually start with somebody who lives on the street in question. Email hello@canterburylive.co.uk with a tip or a correction. We read everything and we put mistakes right promptly, with a note on the page.
